Can't decide if you want the Valley or Wellington Movie Tour?

Why not instead choose this full-day tour which combines both the half-day tours so you don't miss out on anything.

Valley Movie Tour - Escape the city to experience the natural outer region of Wellington as we take you on our Lord of the Rings location tour. Our on-location movie clips will help bring the behind-the-scenes stories to life.

Learn how Peter Jackson and his location scouts had the vision to create amazing sets in some beautiful (and not so beautiful) locations around NZ.

Included: Dry Creek Quarry - See where the massive sets of Helms Deep and Minas Tirith were constructed for the big battle scenes. Harcourt Park - Where Gandalf meets Saruman at Isengard to discuss the newly-found ring. Also the “Hinged Trees of Isengard”. Hutt River - Aragorn drifts ashore here after his battle with Sharku and the Warg-riders. Kaitoke Regional Park - Home of “Rivendell”. Frodo recovers from his wounds before the “Fellowship” is formed. Also where we enjoy a picnic lunch!

Wellington Movie Tour - See where it all began in the “Hobbiton Woods” before exploring the home of NZ's movie-making industry and visiting the Weta Cave.

Included: Mount Victoria - This is where filming for Lord of the Rings began in the “Hobbiton Woods. Scenes include: “Frodo Tree”, “Shortcut to Mushrooms”, “Get off the Road”, “Race to the Ferry”.

Miramar - A suburb of Wellington and home to the movie industry.

We'll show you where the studios are and visit the Weta Cave.

Weta Cave - IMPORTANT: This tour includes over an hour at the Weta Cave.

Your booking with us includes the 25-minute Weta documentary.

IF YOU WISH TO REPLACE THE DOCUMENTARY WITH THE 'WETA CAVE WORKSHOP TOUR' (COST EXTRA), PLEASE TALK TO YOUR GUIDE ON THE DAY. WE WILL ARRANGE THE BOOKING AND THE GUIDE WILL ACCEPT PAYMENT BY CASH, VISA, MASTERCARD OR EFTPOS.

Please remember, the Weta Cave Workshop Tour does cost extra.

Weta Cave Workshop Tour - A Weta technician guides you through a Weta Workshop display area, explaining processes for creating weapons, suits of armour, latex products and other film props.

Those who decide not to include this option instead watch Weta's 25-minute documentary and have extra time to browse around the Weta Cave.

Wellington day tour, Please note: All original filming sets have been removed by the studios.
