The Barossa Valley, only an hour's drive northeast of Adelaide, is Australia's best-known, oldest and largest wine growing region - some of the vines planted over 150 years ago still bear fruit today.

Surrounded by fields of grapevines, the valley's small towns are a colourful collection of historic buildings and churches that reflect its settlement by religious and political refugees from Prussia in the 1840s.
