Posted On: June 7, 2019

Four Australian restaurants have made the list of the top 100 places to eat around the globe - and an eatery in a tiny country Victorian town was among them.

Affluent readers of ritzy lifestyle magazine Elite Traveler were asked to vote on the world's hottest and best restaurants.

With Melbourne arguably the food capital of Australia, it's not surprising Vue de Monde ranked the highest in Aussie restaurants, coming in at number 65 for the world ranking.

Vue de Monde, which literally translates into 'view of the world,' sits on the 55th floor of the Rialto Towers on Melbourne's busy Collins Street.

Coming in at number 70 on the world's hottest restaurants list is another Melbourne foodies' hot spot - Attica, in the trendy suburb of Ripponlea.

Coming in just three spots behind Attica at 77th is socialite-favourite Quay at The Rocks in the heart of Sydney's dining district.

And rounding off Australia's mentions in the world's top restaurants list is Brae, located a town called Birregurra -will a population of less than 1,000 people.

Coming in at 97th on the list, Brae is no stranger to worldwide recognition, after being ranked 44 in The World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2017.

Australia's four best restaurants were among the most renowned and elite eateries in the world, including a grand three-Michelin-starred Swiss restaurant which took out the coveted number one spot.
